HILLS PADI FARMERS HELPED


Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Alfred Jabu today personally deliver fertilisers to Hill Padi farmers in Betong.
At the function Jabu handed the government assistance to 360 families, out of 88,786 families that have been identified, involving a sum totalling RM14.6 million.

Earlier on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Dr George Chan witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Sarawak Farmers Organisation and Guandong Guangken Rubber Group.
The Standard Malaysian Rubber (SMR) factory in Debak, Betong division, Sarawak, is expected to have a production capacity of 40,000 metric tons annually when fully operational by this June.
"An investment of about RM50 million would be spent initially for the overall joint effort, which included taking over the central management and farm infrastructure maintenance of the Batu Lintang rubber mini estate in Sri Aman in August 2006," he said, read here.
